The Story:
Well geez. It's already May, and it feels like 2018 just got started. This is our ninth coffee for the year already (and our second ever sourced from Rwanda). We worked closely with Red Fox Coffee Merchants in both cases - they started importing coffee from Gatare (a collective "washing station") for the first time two years ago. They've uncovered some incredibly complex coffees with the classic stone fruit and floral notes we all love in African coffees. Enjoy this one, folks!
The Story:
Lo and behold! Our first "peaberry" feature to date! Most coffee beans are flat on one side - that's because most coffee beans grow as a "pair" facing each other, inside the cherries when they are just wee baby seeds. In the case of peaberry, just a single seed grows inside the cherry and sucks up all that delicious natural sugar (which is typically imparted on two). This batch from producer Aurelio Villatoro in the Huehuetenango region is a shining example of excellence in coffee production. His coffee lineage stretches back for generations. We're pleased to share it with you!
